Responding to the questions that Nicole had us ponder this week, I realize one hardship that impacts my teaching choices is time. Though I have learned to plan and teach a 35 minute dance class, I find that some days would be more successful if we just had 20 minutes more a day. The difficulty of flex-scheduling during the instructional day is a problem for most teachers I talk with. The most successful student work comes forth when I am able to collaborate with a classroom teacher. That way the student is receiving information through all senses and when processing through writing or dancing can create personal connections.
Tonight I saw Tina and had a lively conversation about teaching strategies. I look forward to our Aesthetic Adventure in Kalamazoo.

As in common with many of your comments, aggreeably, I wish I had, or took more time to reflect. Often times I use kinesthetic methods to reflect on my day..working out on the eliptical, or will jot down a note here or there on a post-it, but find that journaling is helpful. Mostly, though, responding to a specific lesson or student response is ultimately the best form of reflection to me in my teaching practice! I've had the opportunity to be a part of several teaching requirements (National Board and a CAPE research project) that have afforded me time to reflect on specific units, however, it's never enough time to do it immediately after a lesson, as transitition in the daily schedule just don't allow. And, then of course..yoga helps overall! again, very kinesthetic! :) looking forward to meeting everyone..and taking time to reflect! Getting the journal ready! Natalie
